Save $1,500+Recreated educational project: a 30-foot backyard path with irregular stepping stones set in decomposed granite. Weekend project, under $300.
~$250 in materialsThe biggest walkway mistake I see: setting stepping stones too far apart. The comfortable stride for most adults is 18–24 inches center to center. If stones are 30+ inches apart people step off the path onto the lawn. Set them closer than feels necessary and it'll feel natural when you walk it.
